yessss, the AKID ep is finally out on 8bitpeoples! feels proper as it’s been through the revision ringer a few times. huge thanks to the nullsleep // minusbaby // openBack // jesse graffam // videogramo team for getting this up + greetz to the #hexawe krew =) and here’s the hype!~
“AKID EP” by starPause is causing a ruckus. Four floor killers stacked with stinging slaps, bone-shaking bass, saucy diva snippets and tricked out retrigger commandos. Brain on the verge, move as you must! Only Piggy Tracker makes it possible. Art by Videogramo tew wey sekam. Mastering by Jesse Graffam rocks any sound system.
also got to say that bandcamp offers the best service for hosting your music that i’ve come across yet. you upload lossless and they make all the derivative files: mp3/ogg/flac/etc (all well tagged and with embeded album art). you select your license (cc supported!) and choose which files people can download for free or purchase.
so i licensed my music under cc-sa which means you can do anything with AKID EP as long as i’m attributed. cc-sa is my favorite license because it lets the music be as free and open to use as possible, making it the best route for hype/promotion/possibly getting picked up for weird cool things. granted AKID EP could be used for uncool things which would also attribute me and therefor associate me … but being open to ideas other than my own is what all this hippy shit is about anyway.
i also chose to sell the tracks lossless at $2 a piece (album $6). since the music is free to distribute, remix, or reproduce, this is more of a tip jar than anything else. especially since hq mp3 (192kbps) are available in the 8bp catalog. the only quantifiable thing being paid for is convenience: if you pay you can download the track in whatever format you want whenever you want.
if you dig the vibe click share on the bandcamp embed and hit whatever social networks you use. sharing these tunes with just one of your friends is a greater payment to me than the dollars =) and most important, enjoy the sounds …
